We've finished off our anniversary weekend with a few hours wandering around Helmsley. The weather was glorious but it was sad to see so many places closed due to the 'pingdemic'. We had planned to have lunch in one of the pubs there but it was closed due to so many staff having been pinged. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise though as we called into a little Italian place called La Trattoria.
We both had crispy fried squid as a starter and a beautiful freshly cooked pizza a main. It's definitely somewhere that we will eat again
We had no room for dessert and I admit to giving Tony three slices of my pizza as it was so filling. It's back to the low carb diet tomorrow and must say we haven't turned a hair at the amount of carbs we have eaten. We'd agreed that the diet could be put on hold for the weekend and we have thoroughly enjoyed the past four days.
No visit to Helmsley would be complete without a visit to the bookshop there and I never leave empty handed. Tony bought 'The Salad Garden' by Joy Larkcom for me as an early birthday present and l'll enjoy reading up on the wonderful edible things I can plant in my veggie plot.

I'm glad you have had such a wonderful time. Welcome home. xx
