Morecambe Bay

We're home from a lovely weekend break in Morecambe Bay. The guest house was situated on a street about a hundred yards from the promenade and we could almost see the sea from the front door. Morecambe isn't somewhere that we had been before and though it was very tired and more than a little shabby the people there were lovely. The guest house was nice and clean and the 'full English'  breakfast absolutely delicious.. Not your nasty cheap bacon and sausage. These were really decent quality and very tasty. We've walked miles and eaten and drunk loads, well we had to keep hydrated didn't we?  :-) Last night we endured the most appalling singers at a karaoke in a pub but didn't mind one bit.  I could clear a room if I started to sing so am in no position to criticise anyone else for giving it a go.

You gotta love my handbag...:-)  It made loads of friends and started many conversations as we  strolled around

Well you have to really don't you... :-)

We sat on a seat on the prom and watched the sun go down in a blaze of glory each evening. I bet it's stunning at the back end of the year when the skies are darker.

Stunning sunset.

We walked over to Heysham and after wandering over to 'Half Moon Bay (nothing to write home about) we strolled through the village before wandering slowly back to the guest house. .

Last night we had a lovely meal at a Thai restaurant. I love how pretty a plate of food looks with a simple carved vegetable. The turnip rose and carrot leaf finished it off beautifully.

The couple at the next table asked what it was as it looked so nice.  We chatted for a while before they said that they were from  Whitehaven. They suggested that we visit Lytham St Anne's. They say it's a nice place to visit and the beach is stunning. It's now on our 'places to visit' list. Tomorrow Tony will need to sort out the car insurance claim as after speaking to the insurance people last Friday and explaining that we were heading off for a weekend away he agreed that they would arrange to sort the repairs out this coming week.

  1. So glad you had such a wonderful time, despite your rough start. It looks and sounds lovely. It's nice to have some place to look forward to going back to when you can. Love your bag - so cute. I can see why it started conversations. Glad your weather was nice for you. Ranee (MN) USA

    1. I love to breathe fresh ocean air. It always feels as though it's been scrubbed clean.
