What can I say? I am addicted to stitching hexies. They are so lovely to sit and stitch while watching TV. The hardest part is the prep because once they are prepped it's a lovely little project for 'on the go' stitching. I sat last night and prepped a vast pile of them and oh was I glad of my quilters glue pens. I can just imagine the time it would have taken to pin and tack each one. The glues pens are worth every penny and they save so much time. I bought my 1 inch paper templates on ebay and they cost £4.99 for 500. They have saved me hours of cutting out. I went back on this morning and bought some more in different shapes and sizes as I wanted some smaller ones. After prepping them yesterday I sat and stitched these little flowers. There's plenty more ready prepared hexies to keep me going for a while.
Those hexies are gorgeous and again I love the colours you have used. Glue pen? Ok I must be behind the times...sounds very practical! I am going over to Amazon to have a look see. keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteI saw one of the You Tubers using a glue pen and knew how practical it would be. I ordered a load of refills at the same time.
DeleteHexagon tessellation is so pretty, I've always loved it. Your colour choice is so lovely too.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a quilters glue pen. Must research this! I feel some hexagon patchwork something or other coming in! It's all your fault, of course! :-)

Fills the time and stops me munching :-)
DeleteI know exactly what you mean! :-)

Oh my, those are SO pretty! I imagine you smiling as you work on them. I think they could look lovely all around the hem of a summer skirt and one on a plain white top to match up!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice idea. It never crossed my mind to sew them onto clothing.
DeleteThose are so cute! It's nice to have a relaxing project that isn't stressful.
ReplyDeleteThey stitch together really quickly too.
DeleteIt's been 25 years since I stitched a quilt. Love your idea of using a glue pen and little templates to get fabric pieces to cooperate and avoid leaving pins all over the house. Are your templates sticky? Thanks, Lorraine
ReplyDeleteThe templates aren't sticky until I run an edge of glue around the sides. I still did pin. When I had a stack of them I used the glue pen to fold the fabric over. Have a look on You Tube.
DeleteThese are so pretty :-) How do you get rid of the paper off them afterwards ? I've never done quilting :-D
ReplyDeleteThey just peel off. Give it a try it's lovely.
