What's for tea tonight.

We are having posh chorizo spiced sausage and chips with a big pile of home made sauerkraut. It got me wondering what you might be having. I'd like some nice lockdown recipes that use your average families store cupboard ingredients.  A national lockdown is clearly on the cards and we are all going to have plenty of time to cook. Let's make it healthy and nutritious with some cheap and cheerful treats.  Please stay safe and sane everyone.

  1. Last night, we had homemade chicken burgers for dinner. My son is learning to cook and he made them from scratch. Tonight, we will have sausages and salad as it's forecast to be 33C here today.

I think pasta is a good staple to have in the pantry, along with bottled or tinned tomatoes. For quick and simple meals. You can add to this base with things like olives, capers, tuna, veg etc.

  2. Tea last night here (only 2 of us) was Toad in the Hole (1/2 recipe) & steamed veg. Yesterday morning I baked an Orange/blueberry cake using some of our own frozen berries from last season & a Chocolate Sherry Fruit Slice from my late mother's old Shelvador Fridge cookbook that is dated 1955 & was the first fridge we ever had. Not sure about tonight. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
