A thoroughly lovely day

For the first time in over eighteen months I stayed in bed this morning until 11am. I was  reading a book that my friend had passed on to me. It is heartbreaking but so worth reading  'Me before you' by Jojo Moyes. My friend gave me the book yesterday and from virtually the first page I couldn't put it down. I've just been online and ordered the next two in the trilogy.

We were expecting ghastly weather today but it wasn't a bad day at all. We popped out and picked up two trays of eggs before heading out for a drive out. We drove over to Northallerton and circled back home via Helmsley.  We parked up in Helmsley and had a masked up walk around the pretty little town. It was nice popping into a couple of virtually empty shops for a browse. Tony bought me a book which he's put away for Christmas and then we wandered around a bit more and had an icecream each. Him chocolate and me salted caramel. The weather though a bit windy was warm enough for me to leave my coat in the car.

When we got back, Tony took the flag down for me to stitch the hem. It's been getting caught on top of our wooden arch so Tony has moved the flag pole socket to the other side of the house. We have accumulated quite a selection of flags and this is our latest.

  1. That's lovely. You chose my favorite flavor of ice cream. It sounds like you had a fun trip with Tony.

  2. Lovely to go for a drive before you head back into lockdown & those ice creams look yummy. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

  3. I love Helmsley. I have a friend who used to live in Westerdale and then in Castleton on the N Yorks Moors and I visited a couple of times. It's such a beautiful part of the country.

  4. Me Before You has been made into a film and they've done a great job. Sometimes when you've read the book the film doesn't do it justice. I've read quite a few of her books. I'm reading the Baby Group by Caroline Corcoran that I reserved absolutely ages ago on Council Library App. It is fantastic.
