Autumn leaves

Everywhere I walk at the moment the paths are piled high with leaves blown from all the trees and shrubs. The colour is amazing and I love this time of year. On Sunday when Tony was out for a walk he spotted a footpath where huge drifts of  leaves had blown against a fence. On Monday night and Tuesday night we went up in the car and each time we gather ten wheelie bin liners full. My compost bins are full of leaves and the rest has been stacked neatly behind the woodstore. It can just sit there doing its thing and turning into beautiful leaf mould.

I'v been for my morning walk, came home and scrubbed around the kitchen but now have no idea what today will bring as I'm just 'not in the mood'.  I can't think of a single thing I feel like doing. I get the occasional day like this and usually just pick up a novel and read it.  I can't even be bothered to do that. Sighhhhhhhhhh.

  1. Well, I could give you 1/2 my eight inches of snow to cover all the blowing leaves. We went form having the pup drag in leaves form his fur to dragging in snowballs last night. My husband mulches our leaves as part of our lawn care. We have really nice thick grass each ear-it makes nice mulch and we hate raking.

  2. SNOW! eeeeeek.. We don't get much and it's way too early for snow here. January might give us a light dusting and occasionally we get a flurry that lasts a few days but pretty much that's it.

  3. Before I retired, my works carpark was in a dip and the leaves would get caught up. I'd collect a bag when finishing my shift for the composted too.

    1. It would be such a shame to waste leaves when they are a free yearly resource.

  4. They make wonderful stuff for the soil, I agree.
