Kombucha taste test and some tiny treats.

It's only been about twentyfour hours since I bottled the Kobucha and already it tastes gorgeous.  The pineapple one is fabulous. It's kind of like Lilt but far healthier and incredibly fizzy. I'm amazed at just how fizzy it is. The elderberry one is nice too but obviously not as sweet. I am quite excited at the thought of making some mango kombucha when my next batch has brewed in a week or two. I've ordered some proper swing top bottles so that I can bottle them and keep them in the fridge.  They last several months although my intention is to have a glass each day as it's full of healthy gut bacteria.

Last night I made a quick batch of tiny cakes so that when we fancy a sweet treat we can enjoy one or two without busting the diet.  I've made them dozens of times before but my newer blog readers might not have seen them so forgive me for sharing the recipe again.  I used 'petit four' cases and the mix made 16. I always weigh the egg and then knock off about five grams for the shell.  This egg weighed 65g so I weighed out 60g each of sugar, butter and flour.  I used plain flour so added about half a teaspoon of baking powder. I also added about a dessert spoon of dessicated coconut then simply put everything into a bowl and mixed it really well. I divided the mix up into the 16 paper cases and popped them in the microwave for one minute and fifty seconds.  They don't turn brown but it doesn't bother us at all.

  3. You are so adventurous & I only ever seem to cook & eat very, very plain food. I've heard of Komboucha, but thought it alcoholic & as I'm a teetotaler (is that the right spelling),I've never thought about trying it. W call those little cakes, cupcakes here in Oz. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
