Back to normal

Tony and I had a little walk this morning just to stretch our legs. Before we set off I studded the leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary. Ground some black pepper and sea salt all over it before I set it in the tray on top of some quartered onions. I gave it a drizzle of good lamb stock and covered it with foil. It has been roasting for several hours now and the whole house is filled with the smell of garlic and rosemary and roasting lamb.

All ready for a long slow roast in the oven

When we got back from our walk I decided to make Tony's packed lunch for tomorrow as he will be back at work then. I cooked some pretty pasta bows and made a lovely salad with tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, grated carrots and prawns. I mixed in a spoonful of mayo and set it all on a bed of lettuce. Then I put the pasta bows on top. He can stir it all together before he eats it.  It seemed a shame to hide the pretty pasta..

  2. The smell of a slowly cooking meal or baked confection wafting through the house is such a comfort on a cold wintery day. There have been days I have baked something just to have that comforting warmth and smell! Your meals sound so delicious.

  3. Oh, I love the smell of lamb with fresh garlic and rosemary! I love it bbq'd, too. We used to throw the fresh rosemary sprigs into the coals and let the smoke flavor the meat. Divine...

    1. I wonder if the thicker stalks would be strong enough to use as skewers. I will give it a try in the summer
