Half price legs of lamb in Sainsbury's

At last Sainsbury's have the half price legs of lamb on offer. We've just popped out and bought three. One for Sunday and it'll feed us most of next week and two to freeze. We absolutely love lamb and for less than the cost of one meal out (for one person) we have enough of what I consider a real treat to enjoy for many meals. I've started looking at the more expensive cuts of meat with a different view now. I ask myself what it would cost if I chose it from a menu in a reasonably decent pub.  It means we can afford really nice meals without paying eye watering prices to eat out. It helps that all the veg are fresh picked from my garden.  Carrots, cabbage, turnips, kale and chard are currently growing like crazy. I've buckets of beetroot to harvest and plenty of potatoes, apples and tomatoes in store.

  1. Ooooh - thank you. Must keep an eye open in Morrisons too - they had some last year. xx

  2. I'm not so keen on lamb, but I share your opinion on getting good stuff. I have been taking the view that it's worth paying out for absolutely top quality sausages rather than getting mediocre steaks or joints, and if we can't stretch to the good sausages or cheaper cuts then we're better off eating a veggie meal that is likely to be better for us and full of flavour.

  3. I still struggle paying a lot for certain types of food, but that is a good way to think about it.
