Tony's back on board with a low carb diet as his diabetes checkup is in two weeks time and he wants to impress the nurse with his weight loss. He's done brilliantly losing over a stone and he looks so much healthier since his last checkup. Unfortunately he slipped off the cart for a while and tucked into carbs by the ton. It's made it really tough for me to stick rigidly to my plan but I've a bit more willpower than him. I do hope that he isn't just sticking to low carbs and intermittent fasting until he's had his checkup. It's been great thinking up low carb meals and this evening I'm cooking fish for tea. I'll cook it on top of a layer of beautiful fresh tomatoes and sliced patty pan squash. I will add a very small handful of toasted breadcrumbs mixed with plenty of grated cheese and a sprinkle of cayenne as a topping. It's the only carbs he'll have today unless he sneaks a scone or a cake at work. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Tony and I are twins; it's been a carb filled weekend for me as well. I feel his pain!!!
ReplyDeletePoor bloke loves pastries and cakes. Thankfully I don't have a sweet tooth. Pastry gives me dreadful heartburn so I avoid it.
DeleteI can empathise with Tony. I've had a carb heavy summer, but now it's time to get back to eating more healthily. Xx
ReplyDeleteHe's determined to stick with it bless him
DeleteOh but you have such wonderful scones there! Tell Tony he can have them after he loses weight! Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteHe's looking forward to having a few treats.
DeleteMy husband is trying to lose weight. I'm not really sure what to cook lol. His plan is to cut out all the snacks (of which he confesses that he has been eating too many!) and to eat light in the daytimes, a balanced meal at night (smaller portions). I've told him that it has to be something he can stick to. He's also doing more walking than he usually does!
