Junk modelling has returned to Kemp Castle. My friends are collecting used teabags for me. WHY? I hear you ask. Well they are the perfect colour and texture for earth in my model garden. They'll be brilliant to add a little top layer in my mini pots and planters too. I'm blasting them in the microwave to kill any mould spores that might have developed. Yesterday while Tony made a base board for me, I made my little model raised bed from wood which I'd cut to size on my scrollsaw. The mitre shears are brilliant and came in very useful yesterday. I needed to cut tiny braces for the raised bed so I used them to cut matchsticks. The shears cut through the sticks leaving me with perfectly mitred bits of wood. It was a good idea to make the mock up out of cardboard first as it highlighted any potential mistakes and saved me from wasting my precious wood..

Using the teabags is serious genius!
