I've bought a little spin dryer

For a number of years I'd thought how useful one would be to remove excess water from hand washed things. I'd also noticed that my thick towels really hadn't spun particularly well in the automatic. I've currently got a load of towels in the washing machine and I'll pop them in the little spin dryer and see how much water it manages to remove.  It'll save a fortune on electricity during the winter when I need to use the tumble dryer.

I chose to buy an English Electric one as the reviews were quite good. It wasn't the cheapest on Amazon and I'm hoping it'll last me many years

  1. That will make a real difference, especially with the big and heavy items like towels. It looks like a lovely compact model. Hope it does the job well for you.

  2. Great idea. I have a top loader washer (Canada) and it is old enough I can use the spin cycle on its own. I don't have a clothes dryer.

    1. I love top loading machines. They seem to get things so much cleaner and the spin cycle is great. I haven't seen one in years over here in England. Probably because everyone has one to fit under the counter top.

  3. I hope it works well for you! Getting as much water out certainly helps with drying things off. Hope your friend is doing alright

    1. Marian is hooked up to intravenous antibiotics. She's had a good night sleep and feels much better this morning. Hopefully it means her op can go ahead ASAP.

  5. That sounds like a great investment! A spin dryer is such a smart way to save time and money, especially when dealing with thick towels that tend to hold a lot of water. It’s always nice to find something that can reduce your reliance on the tumble dryer, saving you electricity costs, especially during the colder months. The fact that you chose the English Electric brand based on positive reviews shows you’re making a thoughtful choice. I’m sure it will serve you well for many years to come! I’d love to hear how well it performs once you’ve had a chance to test it out with your towels!

  6. We had one of those for years and then passed it on to my mother. They are so effective, much better than an automatic machine and can really get the water out. They can be a bit of a faff to work out the best way to get it to drain, but once that's sorted out then it's fantastic.

  7. For decades I hand washed everything and used a 1960s Frigidaire spinner, it was ace. x
