Time flies

I really can't believe that it's practically the middle of October already. The weather today is absolutely gorgeous if a tad chilly. Tony  is hooked on jigsaws while I tend to sit and read in the porch. It's lovely and sunny in here and because the lounge is always dark I find that I gravitate to my chair in the porch far more than I have ever done  I'd have saved a fortune on my fuel bill over the the last twenty years if it had occurred to me to use the porch as a reading room. I'm getting the urge to knit socks again so will be digging out my yarn and needles and making a start.

My begonias are still looking gorgeous but I think the first frost isn't far off and it'll finish them off.

We are getting on well with decanting our stuff to the local charity shop and I am almost ready for another chuck out from my craft room. I want to empty the spare room and decorate it before Christmas so I really need to get on with destashing.

The garden continues to feed us though it's winding down now. I'm already making plans for next spring's growing season

  1. It's good to make plans, I'm looking forward to the time when we finally move house and can have a productive and beautiful garden again.

  2. This sounds like a great setup. Having an enclosed porch is the best. We enclosed a porch in our first house and practically lived in it.

  3. I'd love a porch so I'm very envious of you using yours as a reading room. Living in a listed building is a real pain at times! xxx

  5. It's crazy, isn't it, the way October is vanishing. Half way through already! What a lovely use of the porch. xx

  6. I just discovered the same thing about sitting in the sun. I noticed my neighbor was sitting out on his balcony in the sunshine yesterday. It is so much warmer there than inside the house. A good tip about the heating bills. Your garden looks fabulous.

  7. We gardeners are always looking ahead to the next season, so we can keep things as productive and beautiful for as long as possible. I love planning new ideas.
Best wishes for the continued destash and decorating x

  8. Time seems to be flying away from me too! Like you, I can't believe it's the middle of October already. The garden still seems lovely. Glad you've found a nice sunny spot in the house. I hate the thought of getting ready for winter, but I can feel it closing in.
