New glasses

I've just been to specsavers for an eye test and chosen some new glasses even though there was very little change in my eyesight.  I've had my current pair for four years and have to tighten the screw in the arm every day..  I get a second pair free of charge so I've opted to have the second pair made into sunglasses.  Total cost for both pairs. £237.   It used to cost that much for just one pair many years ago so I was really pleased with the cost. I've wanted prescription sunglasses for ages and am looking forward to picking them up in a fortnight.  We have zippy staying with us and she us keeping us both entertained.

  1. Zippy is so cute!

A tip I got from my optician years ago - put a tiny drop of clear nail polish on top of the screw in the arm after you have tightened it, and it will hold for quite a while. It's similar to what the optician would use to repair the problem. Even though you are getting new ones, this would make your current pair less annoying for the next two weeks and also make them a good backup pair.

  2. I've just ordered a new pair of reading glasses from one of those cheap postal places that advertise on TV, they're costing me the princely sum of £23.95! No idea what they'll be like (I normally get mine from Specsavers but am trying to save money for our house move), but as they're only for reading I'm not really bothered. Zippy certainly is a clever little cutie, I bet you can hardly bear to part with her when her owners are back!

    1. If I didn't need varifocals I'd go down the cheap route too.

  3. Has my earlier comment appeared? I must go to Specsavers too as I have a reminder. Hugs & take care.

  4. Zippy is so cute :)

I had a new pair of glasses earlier this year, mine are varifocals and they transition to sunglasses, I've been pleased with them.

    All the best Jan

  5. I love Specsavers (they spotted that I had the early signs of Glaucoma) but unfortunately none of their glasses are my style but as I want them to have my business I buy my frames elsewhere and get them to glaze them for me. xxx
