Do you rub it on your feet?

I've been out for my morning walk and got thoroughly soaked with that horrible ringing wet mizzle. The kind that just hangs in the air.  It's a bit heavier though not quite rain at the moment... I do wonder whether other countries have as many different names for the various types of rain that falls. This afternoon is to be a social one with some of my whist group coming over for a mince pie and a few games of Rummikub. It'll be nice to catch up with them all and will rid the house of a few more mince pies. Poor Tony has come down with a cold and is going to banish himself to bed this afternoon so that he doesn't pass it on.  He was feeling quite rough before bed last night so I rubbed some Vicks on his feet and made him put some warm socks on. If you are reading this abroad and don't know what Vicks is it's a pongy menthol rub. It looks almost like Vaseline and stinks to high heaven. Rubbing it on your feet is supposedly more effective than rubbing it on your chest or back.. Whether this is true or not we don't know but he is feeling a bit better this morning. He's going to test himself just to be absolutely certain it isn't the dreaded virus.... we feel obliged to when people are coming over.

  1. I've done that before and I think it works.

  2. I have heard of people rubbing Vicks on their feet, but never tried it myself - couldn't see how it could possibly work! But if Tony and Briony both felt it worked, then maybe it does!

  3. I don't understand the magic, but I too feel it helps. Gets feet soft as well!

  4. Vicks is massive in India, even in tiny villages miles off the beaten track you can buy it!
Hope Tony feels better soon and it is just a cold and not the dreaded Covid - unlike our friend Adrian who tested postive on Xmas morning! xxx
