Brilliant bargains

Tony and I have been up to Boundary Mill again for a little retail therapy. Himself spent a small fortune on new tops and bits and pieces. He bought me another Christmas jumper and I was chuffed to bits to discover that the medium was too big for me. The small fits perfectly. sized 10-12.. Whoop whoop, the diet is paying off. While we there we had a free pot of tea for two  and had intended to go out for lunch in one of the local pubs but spent rather more time shopping than we expected to.  We needed to pick up some groceries before the shops closed. 'Never mind', says me.. I'll buy a couple of nice steaks from Aldi and we'll have them with salad. We picked up some fresh strawberries to have with cream  and they were marked down in price. Then we picked up a bag of stir fry veggies and were just discussing how I could fry them in butter and serve them with the steak when the young lady shop assistant handed us some that she had just marked down... by 75%

That's tea sorted

They needed using up today but were perfectly fine for this evening's meal.  The steaks were gorgeous too and at four for £9.99 we have two for another day. I actually spent less in Aldi (£27.76) than our lunch out would have cost by the time we'd had a pot of tea for two as well as something to eat.  As well as the steaks, strawberries and stir fry veg we got six 300ml tubs of double cream, a large tub of yoghurt, two part baked baguettes, some soft buns, onions, mushrooms, an iceberg lettuce, frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries, some frozen green beans, some walnut halves and a block of Greek style cheese. It's the first lettuce I have bought this year as we have  been eating the ones from the garden since last summer.  My new ones aren't big enough to start picking from yet but should be in a week or two.

  1. Wow, brilliant bargains Cherie. I don't often go to the shops at the time for the best reductions....perhaps I need to start going later!

    1. It was pure chance that we got the bargains and we were really pleased that we had shopped a bit later in the day.

  2. Fantastic bargains. I love Boundary Mill and used to go with Mum and Dad but it's just that bit too far to go from here, sadly. Maybe, next time I have reason to drive up the A1.

  3. Love a bargain, have you heard of an apt 'to good to go', you set it up local to you and every day shops will offer for sell reduced bags of food, already packed no choice,. Our local M&S garage sell their bags for £4 and often the values are over £12. The food will go out of date the same day as purchase, but we find things will last a few days beyond. There are loads of stores which are listed, not everyone has food to sell every day.
