Absolute bargain food shop

I've just been with my friends to an outlet  that sells food that is either on or close to it's sell by date. The following were 25p each. A large cumber, Aubergines, 3 pack of avocados, cantaloup melon, net of fresh ginger. six pack of a mixture of fresh lemons and limes. four pack of pears. pot noodles, instant porridge pots (for camping) a punnet of grapes and a Florence fennel bulb. I picked up  3 for £10 packets of skinless chicken drumsticks that were marked half price.  They actually cost me 87p a pack and there are ten drumsticks in each pack.  I cooked one pack when I got home and froze 2 packs. I bought a three pack of tins of Heinz beans with pork sausage for £1 (for camping). I bought loads of other bits and pieces at bargain prices too.  It's been well worth a visit this morning.  They stayed for lunch and we shared a Feta and walnut salad... It was the least I could do when they drove quite a way out of their way to collect me and bring me home.

I bought some 'Painted Lady' runner bean seeds and more rainbow radish seeds

After they left I added the chicken drumsticks that I had cooked to our salad boxes for  Wednesday and Thursday. Of course I had to taste test one first  :-)

  1. It's good to know that they're not going to waste. We have a community fridge open twice a week which gives similar food at date away for free. It's for anybody to use, but they limit how much you can have so people can't be greedy or take more than they can use. Arilx

    1. There's a limit on how many items people can take here too. They often give out of date things away free but that is also limited

    1. It's called .. The Company Shop. It's a members only place for those who are or have served in The armed forces, the NHS and a few other criteria. Tell your mum to Google them. They have a website. Absolute bargains to be had.
