Monsoons broke... It's absolutely hammering it down with big fat raindrops. Who knew that there are so many types of rain? It will do the garden the world of good but the noise is horrendous on the conservatory roof. Thunder is banging and crashing and the lightning is pretty dramatic.
My poor salvia 'Hot Lips' has had several moves around the garden and I was beginning to think I had killed it. It looked like a mass of dead twigs for ages but just look at it now.
The first time I ever saw this plant was when Tony and I were on holiday down in Essex. We stayed over at my friend Anona's and had one of the best holidays we've ever had. We had some lovely days out with Anona and her partner Kim. I can still remember the smell of fruit as we walked through Tiptree to the jam making factory. The sight of Hollyhocks in big clumps was a sight to behold and we loved visiting the open gardens down there. Maybe next year we will visit again.
What a beautiful plant. My Hollyhocks are in bloom now. I just love them. They are so tall and old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteWe had some really heavy rain yesterday at Dad's too. One minute it was dry and about ten seconds later it was absolutely teeming down.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that pretty salvia survived.
xx
What a great name, Hot Lips!
ReplyDeleteIt's been monsson-like here, we could hardly hear the fopotball commentary on saturday night! xxx
Seems it must be raining everywhere & we've had "very few" sunny days this year at all & it's been mighty cold too. Love the Salvia & glad you've not lost it. Take care & stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what those flowers were called. Now I know! Arilx
