This and that. Picture heavy post

It has absolutely hammered it down all day today and I got thoroughly soaked to the skin when I went out for my walk this morning. My poor coral pink Penstemon is looking a little battered and bedraggled. Someone mentioned in a comment recently that they wish I made the photos bigger... you only have to click on them and they enlarge.

The penstemon has taken a bit of a battering

The cucamelon is really starting to take off now and has tons of tiny fruit forming.  It's a bit straggly but I am told this is perfectly normal. I'm planning on keeping a few fruit to collect the seed from later in the year. If anyone would like some let me know and I'll send you a few.  UK only I'm afraid
I have six tomato plants growing in grow bags on the path and a pedestal planter has two varieties of tumbling tomato just to the right of the front door. On the left hand side of the door is a 'White Wonder' cucumber. On the far side of the drive you can see my large pots containing  twigs fruit trees :-)

Inside the porch

The porch has really come into its own this year and we'll be treating it like a greenhouse from now on.

Tony brought two huge slices of cake home from work. His colleague makes lovely cakes so bang went the low carb diet tonight. We cut one piece in half and shared it with a cup of tea.  It has filled me up so I don't actually want anything else to eat. Tony's just eaten a huge Full English. I have no idea where he puts so much food.

We got a bargain at Aldi Tonight. It only cost £2.02 for this Kilo of minced beef. I've divided it into four portions and frozen it. We've started buying the fattier mince as it's what is recommended on the Keto diet.

  1. Garden is looking lovely & all the veg will be delish, I'm sure. I've not grown or tried cucamelon, but must look it out for summer this year. I buy Aldi mince too & depending on what I'm using it for, determines how much fat content I need. Take care & hugs.
