Snowing again

Oh my word it was bitterly cold when I went out for my walk this morning. It's definitely a day for working indoors today so that's what I have done.  All my beautiful 'Old country roses' china was desperately in need of a good wash... So that's just what I did. I'm ashamed of just how much dust was on the cabinet when I took all the china into the kitchen.  It's now had a good wipe down with a damp cloth followed by a good rub over with lavender scented bees wax polish.

I adore this china

I love this china but don't get to use it very often as Tony is really clumsy and it would be in shards on the kitchen floor if he was allowed anywhere near it.  I had hoped to host an 'Afternoon tea' for my friends here this week but the weather is too darn cold to even think about sitting in the garden.  It's been put on hold till the weather fairs up. We've had light snow flurries on and off for the past hour and there's plenty more to come by the look of the sky.  I do smile when I read about the foot of snow that my American friend calls a light dusting. Britain would grind to a halt if we got anything more than a couple of inches

  1. So love that china. I have a couple of pieces myself. Just what I picked up from markets. I bought them as soon as I saw them. Just like Tony I do not allow Sr P near them or any other china in my collection. I have lost some valuable pieces because he is clumsy around china. He recognises this now and leaves my china alone now. I don't think he understands just how important bone china is to a person...sigh! Yours is a beautiful collection! Mmmm so love beeswax the smell reminds me of my Gran's house. keep well Amanda x

  2. That china is spectacular! I love the pattern. It has been warm and sunny here. A gorgeous day for hiking and mountain biking.

  3. Your taste is impeccable & I thought I had a cup & saucer of my Mum's in that pattern, but evidently didn't get that one. My DD has a fancy dinnerset, but just can't remember what pattern, but similar to that. A little more snow? It looks like a dusting of icing sugar over everything. We've had both hot and cool here, but not much rain so far for April. Wonder what this weekend will bring with forecast for rain, but they aren't always very accurate. Take care & hugs.

    1. Thank you Susan. I've been collecting this china for a long time after inheriting some from my mum.

  4. I have the same china pattern but use it daily. It has been in a cupboard for years only used when we had visitors. When we moved here I decided that it was tie to enjoy it.

    1. I would love to use this every day but not a week goes by without Tony breaking something. In the past week he has broken two dinner plates and cracked my glass jug. I'd be heartbroken if he broke any of this as I inherited a lot of it from my mum.
