It was forecast and was only the merest flurry but enough to give the grass verges a light dusting. At first I assumed it was a thick frost until I looked at the car roof and noticed a fine layer. The sun's out so I am hoping it will soon warm up although it isn't expected to get particularly warm. I keep forgetting that it's still very early in the year as the garden is so much lighter and brighter without my workshop.
I've been out for my walk and when I got back Tony and I had breakfast and my first cup of tea of the day. I can't thank Joy enough for posting about the banana oat pancakes ages ago. They have become a firm favourite of ours. Todays pancakes were served with honey, yoghurt and a good drizzle of the elderberry and rosehip syrup that I made last year. This year I am planning on making some elderberry wine. I feel it must have all the health benefits of elderberries and the trees here are laden with berries at the back end of summer. We also plan to make some elderflower and lemon flavoured gin when the flowers are blooming. It's lovely being able to plan ahead for the year to come
I'm sure we are likely to need face masks for a long time yet so yesterday I made this one to wear with my dark 'smart coat'. I like this particular design as it doesn't mist my glasses up. I intend to make a few more and I'll re use the elastic out of the older style ones I made and cut the fabric up for patchwork. Waste not want not. x
Snow!! But I've just remembered my first trip to UK was mid March/April in 1991 & it snowed lightly while we were in Scotland & the rest of the holiday it rained & in the 6 weeks we had 6 fine days altogether. Your breakfast does look yummy & I'm afraid ours is usually cereal/porridge & toast & tea. We must be boring oldies? Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow here too - just ten minutes of it and no settling but it was so pretty to watch.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like those pancakes so much. I think they're delicious too - all pancakes are, in fact, but with oats and banana, one feels a bit more 'healthy'!
