It's still flippin' cold but I'm a happy soul today. My new duo pear tree has arrived and is currently sitting in a large bucket of water in the conservatory. We are hoping to get some blossom this year though apparently I need to nip off any fruit that forms to give the roots a chance to get established. Would any of you know whether pear blossom has a scent? I am considering asking for a duo Apricot tree or a 'family cherry tree with five varieties on one trunk for my birthday. If not for my birthday then perhaps for Christmas. See how far ahead I am thinking. The box that the tree came in is enormous and will make a good layer for the bottom of a raised bed.. yes, another one. I intend to grow as much fruit and veg as I can this year. My house currently looks like a garden centre with seedlings and cuttings on every available surface. It's 'tea on our knee ' tonight as there isn't any room at the table. And there's me thinking that if I got rid of craft stuff the table would stay clear.
That sounds lovely, a duo any fruit tree has to be good. Wish I lived closer, lol

I'd make a lovely pear tart and we could share it.
DeleteI've heard of duo (or family) apple and pear trees, didn't know you could get them in apricot and cherry trees though.
ReplyDeleteNeither did I until the other day.
DeleteI had a duo apple tree in our old house which was amazing. I have never come across a family tree before.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. I have an apricot tree that is very productive at the cottage. I may buy another one. They grow so well in California, and are the first fruits of the season. I planted several cherry trees up at the cabin. They are still babies, but I am excited about the fruit. Your five in one sounds pretty.
