Loft full of junk

Alexander used to get quite cross with me for saving all my unused crafting stuff in the loft. He couldn't understand why people fill their lofts with 'stuff'.  Now he is settled with Beckah and they have had their loft converted he is finding that it's slowly filling with 'stuff''.  I had to smile the other day when he text to ask whether I had any glittery stickers in my paper crafting stash.  Then Beckah text to ask if I could spare some dried lavender. They took away a big stash of tissue, a pile of sheets of cellophane, a basket filled with paper crafting stuff... sequins, stickers, pretty papers, a spare heat gun etc. Alexander did chuckle when I asked how his nice empty loft is looking.  I've just had a message asking whether they can have the electric paper shredder. It was Alexander's originally but when we emptied his house he was going to send it to the dump... He's glad we didn't now and I think he has learned a valuable lesson. Crafters lofts are not filled with junk. They are filled with useful things that may come in handy one day.  :-)

  1. Hear! Hear! Wish I had a loft to fill with USEFUL things and things that will one day come in handy. I have to use underthebed storage as my one rubbish cupboard is full! Did I say rubbish?.. excuse me! I meant essential items cupboard! enjoy your day Amanda x

    1. A loft is a very useful thing for a crafter to have.

  2. Having cleared out my ex mother in laws lift twice, once when FIL died and then again when she refilled it and cleared out my mother's loft when she died. I refused to keep anything in my loft. Now I live on a boat I have no loft!

  4. My brother in laws mantra was; it will come in handy even if I don't use it. The problem is he keeps real junk, things that are broken and such like. Whereas I strip things down and keep what I believe will be handy.

    1. It's mostly crafting tools or boxes of clothes. I will sort through the clothes as soon as lockdown is finished and move them on.

  5. We don't tend to have lofts over here & most garages are used for cars, not necessarily "stuff". DH (bless him) sees a garage full of belongings & cars on the drive often comments, "they must be English", which always make me laugh. Men here do have SHEDS & they often complain they need a bigger one & I'd love a studio again one day. Wish we'd never moved & given it up. Sounds like Beckah is quite crafty too. Take care & hugs.

    1. Trouble is our garages tend to be quite small and difficult to get a car into. I think if they were bigger we might use them for the car.

  6. We had a box of stuff in our loft for about 15 years which we hadn't opened since we moved. I was convinced it was my husband's old photography stuff, but he denied it. When I did finally open it much to my embarrassment it was full of my books. Seeing as I hadn't apparently missed them in all that time I passed them on immediately! Arilx

  7. We haven't had a garage for 11 years and I refuse to put stuff in the loft at our new home so G has a shed full of his bits and pieces and I have a cupboard stuffed full of craft items already. I stopped buying any more during the first lockdown and really need to use up what I have. Unfortunately, no craft fairs to attend means no sales so it's a bit pointless making up too much right now! I did give a lot away before our move in December 2019 but I still have far too much!

  8. To stop things going to landfill my DD brings me outgrown toys, clothes etc that GS no longer wears or plays with. I then give some to charity shops or put on eBay. Then she comes to visit and complains spare bedroom is full of junk, it's mostly her stuff lol

    1. I must confess that I have too many clothes that 'might fit me one day'. I have never sold on ebay before. Is it straight forward?
