Is the weather about to turn

It was bitterly cold when we popped out to collect my parcel from the local parcel office this morning.  I'm sure the flippin postie must have used a feather to knock on the door yesterday as I was at home when he called. The parcel contained my lovely new half wellies that I ordered the other day. My goodness they are really comfy though a little big. I had to order a size four as that was the smallest size available but it's not a problem as they are only for working in the garden and I can wear nice thick socks with them so my feet will be toastie and warm. After collecting my parcel we popped over to do a shop in Guisborough as we had some 'love to shop' vouchers that Tony had been given as a Christmas bonus in lieu of a Christmas meal.  I used them in  Iceland and while I shopped there Tony nipped to the Aldi next door to do a bit of a shop. We are now stocked up with plenty of frozen veggies and plenty of fresh fruit. We won't need to shop again for ages and it was nice to be able to actually get out and browse the shelves. Iceland was practically empty of customers and the shelves well stocked so it was well worth a visit. The fields and hills are thick with snow here and I'm wondering now how badly people will be affected by flooding across the UK once it all starts to thaw. The temperatures look set to rise this coming week and by Tuesday we are promised a balmy10 degrees. It's minus one today so that is a huge increase and the land is already saturated after weeks of soggy weather. Thankfully it  doesn't affect us but my heart goes out to those that are probably watching the weather forecast and keeping their fingers crossed. Are you all staying safe and warm?

  1. I've forgotten what 10°C feels like, I might have to get my bikini out!
I haven't been in a supermarket for almost a year, something I don't miss one bit! xxx

  2. Glad your little wellies have arrived & one day I must get a pair, as the ones I had many years ago were comfortable for wet times too. We are back to only one person allowed to shop again & although I tried deliveries, at $15 a time to come about 3.5kms, we didn't feel it was warranted & wasting a lot of money. I hate grocery shopping & K. has offered to go with a list, as he doesn't cook I need to be very thorough in what we need. 13deg here this morning & up to about 22 by mid afternoon, then we are in for a week of mid 30s, which is warmer than yours, but a bit too warm for me & probably muggy with all the rain we've had this summer. Been a very weird time both weather wise & with this pandemic. Take care, stay safe & hugs.

  3. I dearly love a good pair of wellies!! Such a useful item to have.
It's still cold here but not, I think, below freezing. No frost this morning and the snow texture has changed. It's on the way out.
Fingers crossed for areas inclined to flood. It must be worrying.
