Thank goodness nearly all the snow and ice has gone. It meant that I was able to get out for a walk with my friend this morning. When I got home I set to and made a half dozen spicy red lentil and veggie patties. I haven't made them before but thought that they might be nice for tea tonight with a mixed salad. Then I noticed that a packet of smoked mackerel needed using up so I made some spicy mackerel fish cakes. I didn't have any parsley for either of the recipes so I picked some carrot tops fresh from the garden. They are really tasty and add a nice splash of green to the recipe. I've put half the fishcakes in the fridge for tomorrow's tea and the other half have gone into the freezer for another day. The weather is looking quite promising so I might get out and sort a bit more of the workshop this afternoon. I'm waiting for some shelf brackets to arrive then I can put up a shelf in the new shed. I want to sow some hardy annual plants and keep them on the shelf in the shed until they germinate. It isn't heated but will mean that I can plant out a little earlier than if I sowed them directly outdoors when the weather is likely to be hit and miss for quite some time yet.

Loving the sound of those lentil patties - yum! x
ReplyDeleteThose fishcakes and patties look so tasty. I've never had them. I would like to get some seeds started, too.
ReplyDeleteBoth lots of patties look good & I think salmon croquettes will be on our menu for Friday night. I enjoy hearing about the shed & the things it is going to do. We'd thought about looking for my garden shed in the next few weeks, but back in lockdown has put paid to that idea. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me! These are very creative dishes.
