Mask photo tutorial

Yesterday I winged it with the measurements and today I measured everything... and it turned out too big. I have unpicked, trimmed and unpicked some more. I would suggest that a piece of fabric 11inches square would be much better than the 13 inches I measured but I am not going to start all over again so just ignore the measurements and go with 11 inches. My hair is now in a bob so you can't see the area in front of the ear.  This mask needs a dart to pull it into shape.  The one I made yesterday doesn't and fits nice and snug to my face.  I'll be winging it from now on  :-)

Please ignore the measurement

Fold the square in half to form a triangle

I would suggest that you hold the triangle up to your face so that you can see how much you need to cut off the two sides

Now lay the elastic onto the right side as shown

Fold it so that the right sides are together enclosing the elastic and stitch all the way around the triangle. Leave an opening so that you can turn it so the right sides are now on the outside. Give it all a good press with an iron.

Push the chenille stem through the opening and push into place for the nose wire

This is where the wire should be placed inside the triangle. I stitched a channel then top stitched all around the triangle making sure to close the gap.  Then I discovered it was all way too big at the side of my face. :-(  I had a bit of unpicking and trimming to do

Just along my cheek bones could do with a dart putting in.  I may or may not bother.

I am now thinking that a squat diamond might give a better fit better than a square of fabric.

  1. Thanks for your tutorial & I do have 2 that I made that are quite comfortable but my glasses seem to fog up dreadfully and as for the disposable ones.....hmm, they are gigantic on me. DH mostly wears one of the few I made for him, but a couple of others just don't really fit over his facial growth(lol). I may give it a trey with some tweaking. Take care, stay safe & hugs from down under.
