The other day when I was chatting with my friend on the phone I happened to mention that I would love some nice thick winter socks. When Tony went to check our mail box look what she had sent me.. They look hand knit although they aren't.
You might be wondering why we have a mail box? It was here when I arrived. Tony was working abroad when he bought this house as a doer upper.. He put in a front door without a letterbox so that mail wouldn't pile up and show that the house was empty. The mail box is attached to the wall of our house and we have never thought about changing the front door just to have a letterbox.
Those socks are gorgeous, what a kind friend!
ReplyDeleteWe have a mail box too, our house is double fronted with two doors which confuses everyone so it's easier to have a box on the gate post in the avenue. x
I have some lovely friends and know how very lucky I am.
DeleteOh, they are lovely and I must learn how to knit them better, as my first attempt would have fitted a giant.(lol). Our letter boxes are on the street frontages as our mail is delivered by posties on "posty bikes", a small motor bike or some are switching over to electric push bikes, especially in very built up areas. Take care & stay safe.
ReplyDeleteMail boxes are pretty rare here. Every house has a letterbox.
DeleteThey're really lovely. What a useful gift.

Lovely and warm too. I am a happy lady tonight. x
DeleteWhat a lovely gift! I love warm socks. My feet always seem to get cold.
ReplyDeleteIf my feet are cold the rest of me is cold. These are lovely toastie warm socks
DeleteSuch a lovely thoughtful gift. There are very few letter boxes in doors here the wind would cause havoc with them. Most people have a porch which is where the mail is left.
ReplyDeleteI can see why they would be a problem there. A porch is a much better idea.
DeleteWe had a mail box as the mail would jam the sliding porch door if you didn't notice it in time. I love thick winter socks.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed reading the comments left just how many people have mailboxes. I thought they were uncommon in the UK
