One man's junk

My friend is sorting through her bathroom cabinet and rang to ask would I like any of the things she is chucking out as it seems a shame to just bin them. She doesn't want to wait for charity shops to open and doesn't want it cluttering up her tiny bungalow.. Over the years she has been bought all manner of moisturisers and perfumes.. None of which she uses.  I have just received a carrier bag bag filled perfumes, shampoos, shower gels, bubble bath, perfumed body lotions and expensive face creams. In the bag was an opened but hardly used bottle of  'A Scent' by Issi Miyaki and a brand new still in it's cellophane wrapper bottle of the same perfume. I am more than happy to take them off her hands.. Like the old saying goes.. One man's junk is another mans treasure.

  1. That's a great gift and it so useful. I'm currently debating lots of odds and sods and compacting my potions and lotions ready to use ip before I purchase anything else.

    1. I love it when I am given a bag of other people's stuff. It's almost as good as Christmas.

  3. Once people learn that you're happy to receive regifted items you get offered all sorts. I was wearing a skirt a friend passed over to me a few years ago yesterday. When I found I could no longer wear earrings I gave her first dibs on all my silver ones....10 years down the line and she's still wearing them! Arilx

    1. I have always loved upcycling anything am given. It's definitely paid off over the years.

  4. How lovely & although not exactly upcycling, my afternoon was one of much amusement among neighbours. I'd picked 3kg of blueberries in the morning & wondered where on earth I'd keep them before distributing, when a very elderly gentleman popped across with a bucket of plums that he was handing out around our court, so he got some berries and as he was leaving another in the next street dropped off her empty berry container, so she got some more as well as leaving with plums, so we all had a bit of a natter & a good giggle about our bartering. BTW, she often brings lemons around to me. Some stewed plums will go into the freezer & looks like I'll be making jam earlier than usual with some of the berries. Bit long winded, but in these hard times we certainly are being more neighbourly. Take care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. I'm hoping to keep a few of my friends supplied with fresh salads this coming year. My veg garden is going to be very productive with a bit of luck.

  6. How wonderful there is nothing nicer than an unexpected gift. I love how we seem to be going back in time, thinking of our neighbours and helping one another.

    1. It's sad that all this neighbourliness disappeared. Let's all hope it continues once life returns to normal.
