We have snow

We woke this morning to a pretty covering of snow and it's made the whole world look clean and bright. It's highlighted the fact that  Kemp Castle is looking dusty and ready for a good clean so today might be a house working kind of day. It will be one less thing to do at the weekend when everything Christmas gets put away. Alexander and Beckah have already put their tree away and to be honest the festivities feel well and truly over this year. New Years Eve celebrations are nothing particularly special this year. The ceilidh is obviously not going ahead and we can't have friends over so I might make a start putting the Christmas crockery back in the 'Christmas cupboard'.  When do you take your decorations down?

  1. I have a small tree with lights on in the window sill. I might leave it there all year round.

  2. I put away most of my decorations on 5th January but the crib stays up until Candlemas on 2nd February. It seems rude to put it away on the day the magi arrive. x

  3. I'll take my stuff down on New Years Day. It won't take long, I had intended to go gung ho, but then ended up with simple tree, our mantel with stockings, and a few things around to brighten the place. I will though keep the outside lights, garland, and wreath up since it is a fresh wreath and I might as well keep enjoying while green. By February, though I'll take off the pretty pine cones and ribbons to reuse next year in the garland, and put that away as well.

  4. I don't bother with Xmas decorations, just bringing in some greenery from the garden on the day of the Solstice, that'll stay up until it starts to wilt. My fairy lights are up all year round. xxx

  6. I saw lots of snowy snaps on Kate's & Rosie's blogs & it was enchanting. I also realised they can both stay warm under quilts from Oz(lol). As for decorations, most of ours always come down on 29th, my late Dad's birthday & the day after my C's birthday (48 now), but this year I put up very little as my heart just wasn't in it. All cleared except for the crochet star/snowflake bunting in the study window which looks pretty. Maybe I should think about a colourful floral one to replace it. Take care, stay safe & warm & enjoy the housework (ha-ha). Huggles.

  7. I'm leaving my decorations up for the time being. It also excuses me from having to dust :)
