It's about to turn colder

No surprise really given that we are halfway through November. It's not the cold that bothers me but the miserable grey damp days.  I tend to spend a good part of the winter crafting or reading upstairs as the sun shines in the windows and really warms the room. The houses opposite block the sun at this time of year when it's low in the sky. We so look forward to it returning to the skyline and plan to make a note next year of exactly when it appears again. I can scarcely believe that it's only six weeks until Christmas. It's Tony's birthday on Friday and we would have loved a nice meal out.  Not going to happen this year but that's a small sacrifice compared with the sacrifices so many people are being asked to make right now.

Tea tonight will be mince potato pie with some lovely buttery veggies.  We watched Ainsley last night and just fancied the pie he made. There seems to be a lot of nice cookery programmes on just lately. No wonder people are gaining weight... thankfully Tony and I are still managing to lose a little bit here and there.

  1. It's going to be a long winter without our annual five week escape to India! When we do get sunshine our house is brighter than it is in the summer, no leaves blocking out the sun.
My birthday falls on the week we're due to come out of lockdown, it would be lovely to see my friends and have an al fresco beer but I'm highly doubtful! xxx

  2. Happy birthday for Friday Tony, you'll have to celebrate after lockdown. The front of my bungalow is south facing so I use a front bedroom to do things in as its so light. I too hate the grey damp days.

  3. Happy Birthday to Tony. Would you do a take out so you don't have the work? My birthday is the day before our Thanksgiving, so I am going to request take out Chinese food, and do on-line Trivia with beer I'll pick up from the brewery. I'll support two small birthdays that way.

  4. It has been so gloomy here, I've needed the lights on all day. I hate these dark, depressing days. X

  5. I'll wish your Tony a Happy Birthday for Friday which must be the 20th as I know we've 2 birthdays on Saturday for our grandchildren which is the 21st. Our eldest will be 24 which still amazes me as I remember carrying her around the Bank showing off that I was a grandmother & DD's eldest will be 15. Where has all this time gone. Keep warm, take care, stay safe & huggles.

  6. We are spoiled in California. I have been riding my bike with Lula out in the sunshine. I would really miss the sun this time of year if I lived anywhere else. I do like wearing hand knit wool clothes, though. It's good that you have your crafting and cooking to keep busy and creative.
