I've noticed that Christmas trees and decorated houses have begun appearing fairly close to where I live. It's way too early for me but if it brings some light into their lives then I say just go for it. Tony and I love Christmas and we will be making a start in about three weeks. It takes us several days to get all the house decorated for Christmas and we plan to make the most of it this year. Things are going to be very very different for a lot of people. I think I will make a start pretty soon on my Christmas cards. I like to put a couple of days aside for card making. I usually make really special ones for all my friends and this year I will be making hand made ones for the neighbours too. I am going out for a walk later this morning as my friend has a hospital appointment at 08.45. We'll go when she gets back. We've increased the length of our walk to fill a bit more time in and make sure that we are getting enough exercise. I have no intention of piling on the weight during the lockdown. It's would be far too easy to sit around drinking tea and eating biscuits. That's not going to happen and I have set myself a goal of at least one pound each week. I'm doing well this week and would do better if my darn leg would just get stronger. Oh well mustn't grumble. Things could be far worse.
I put my decorations up the first Saturday in December. But this year they will be ready on the 1st. After meeting my friend at the weekend and her saying she doesn't think she will bother I said you must, for your own mental well being. I expect lots of people feel like her, even if it's a simple tree I feel it's a symbolic of hope. I'm looking forward to seeing your crafting and decorations.
ReplyDeleteTree always goes up in early December, this year it will go up on 1st, so it's up when Will can visit. I have my cards to make, it's on my November list.
ReplyDeleteIn the US, the day after Thnaks giving is the normal start to Christmas decorating, but I see and hear about earlier starts this year. My husband is a good artist-I think I am going to ask him to make a drawing that I can then turn onto cards. We didn't have nay family picture opportunity with my son 1/2 way across the country, and I think sharing a bit of personal touch might be nice this year. I look forward to seeing pictures of your creations.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is on the 2nd, and for years we didn't put up our deccies until the weekend after that - but since we've been in the house they go up so they are 'ready' for my birthday too - it makes me feel more special!!
ReplyDeleteIt’s funny, we don’t actually celebrate Xmas in japan, we have a tree for the kids, but it’s not a big celebration over here, new year is. We get 10 days off in January which is nice. My mum is dismayed as we have KFC for Xmas lunch it’s a huge thing over here and we have to book it in September!
ReplyDeleteWe have just ordered our new year bento boxes from the department store as they are a huge thing here is well. Xmas isn’t what was when I was a child. And I think I my younger two had to do Xmas in the UK it would scare them. As we don’t spoil our two youngest as we don’t have the room. And it’s not commercial . They have tried but it’s not a big thing.
