Ages ago my friend Marian went through a patch of sewing soft toy hedgehogs... One is never enough of course and she ended up with half a dozen. They are about ten inches tall and ever so cute. When she offered me one I of course gave it a home straight away. Yesterday I unpicked a little of the seam and then stuffed the hedgehog with some of my dried lavender. I stitched up the gap and popped the hedgehog on my bed between the pillows. Both Tony and I slept like a log last night and it was lovely waking up with the scent of lavender on the pillows. Now I plan to make what I can only describe as 'hot pads' . They will be about ten inches square and I will scatter lavender between the layers of wadding (batting) I plan on popping one under each pillow and depending on how many I make I will fold them over the radiators. When the heating comes on it will release the scent of lavender right through the house. Who needs nasty chemical sprays to keep our homes smelling lovely.
Great idea.I love the smell of lavender.
ReplyDeleteWe think that it smells of summer
DeleteSo lavender really does work wo help with sleep. We need something in our house.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly worth a try.
DeleteMy sleep pattern is dreadful having been a shift worker all my life. Its just starting to get back to some normality and I've been retired 4 years! Perhaps I need to try the lavender.
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether the brain just focuses on the perfume and think maybe any gentle fragrance would work.
DeleteGreat idea. I've a soft spot for anything hedgehog now and got loads in my garden this year which come and eat each night. Emmax
