Lovely fresh picked veggies

My little patch of suburbia is starting to pay me back for all the hard work I have put in these past few months. It was lovely to be able pick enough veg for our Sunday Lunch yesterday. The Kale will be sweeter once it has had a bit of frost on at the back end of the year but still tasted good enough to eat yesterday. I will continue to pick carrots as and when I need them. It's a good way to thin them out. The carrot tops and thick Kale stalks were put to good use too as I minced them up with some garlic, onions, olive oil, salt and a bay leaf and have made a very tasty veggie stock with them. Some I froze in ice cube trays and some I have put in a jar in the fridge. It will be really useful to use over the next few days.

  1. Bravo for managing to grow carrots. No matter how many times we tried when we had our allotment we never succeeded in growing carrots. I blame the soil, lol

    1. I am absolutely delighted with the carrots. They are growing very near to a giant leylandii hedge so the soil is filled with tiny roots. I didn't know if the carrots would even germinate as it was old seed.

  3. Yummy, yummy! I should be planting soon, if we have access to any seed or seedlings over the coming months due to everything being closed or only for tradespeople. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
