I spent a large part of yesterday cutting the lawn into turf squares and re laying them at the other end of the garden. It was really hard going in the heat and my flipping 'other hip' didn't help. I intend to struggle on through the pain and get the garden laid out how I want to it be as I think I am reaching the painful point where the other hip will need replacing. If that is the case then I suppose it's better to have it done as winter approaches and the garden needs less work.
Last night himself decided he would 'help' me in the garden. He climbed down into the secret garden to do a bit of weeding... he had pulled out half a row of carrot seedlings before I thought to see how he was getting on. Needless to see I was not a happy bunny and someone got the sharp side of my tongue. Flipping heck, there are two rows of big carrots coming along, he clearly didn't think to take a look at the leaves before he started yanking it all out. Then he grabbed a parsnip by the leaves and was on the point of dragging it from the soil. He was banned from pulling anything more than nettles if he insists on helping. I wouldn't care, I have a carefully drawn up row plan and he only had to take a look. Each potential row is clearly marked at each end......end of moan.
Oh that so reminds me of my husband. Bull&China shop com to mind! You did very well working in that heat it's been so humid. You've obviously had a hip replacement and know the signs. I hope you get it sorted soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's too bad about your hip. I know I got in all sorts of arguments when my hips needed replacing. That chronic pain really gets to you. Too bad Tony didn't realize those were carrots. What a shame. It is a relief when both hips have healed. I am now pain free, and feel thirty years younger. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your hips are not behaving. And that your hubby pulled your carrots. Sometimes people don't seem to understand what we find to be plain as day ...
ReplyDeleteThat so reminded me of my DH pulling seedlings instead of weeds in my Mum's garden way back in the 70s when we were helping her one day. She was horrified & he was allowed to help digging etc., but banned from weeding. Enjoy the produce. Hope that bothersome hip is either feeling better or being seen too. Take care & huggles.
