Edible weeds

I have had a comment left on my blog accusing me of boasting that I have a full larder?  There's always someone that wants to have a go isn't there. If things are so tough then why do you have an internet package?  Get rid of it and use the money saved to buy food..  Or better still if you are struggling to make ends meet then might I suggest you spend less time browsing blogs and more time browsing you tube and learn the art of food foraging. You would be stunned to learn just how much you can eat from the local hedgerow.

Here 's a site to get you started.    http://twistedfood.co.uk/urban-foraging-food-can-harvest-city/

  1. Great advice. There is always someone that has to bitch about what other people have. I am an avid forager. I love dandelion greens and even freeze some to add to soups during the winter.

    1. I never thought to freeze dandelion greens. Thank you. I will add that to my 'Useful things to do' list. x

  2. I blanch the leaves under pots, just cover the drainage holes. They are good in salads and stirfries. the petals make lovely pancakes. It's a good thing your commenter cannot see my pantry. I have always kept it full.

    1. I have often added the petals to salads, they just look so pretty. We have some nice big pots that would be perfect for blanching the leaves.

  3. I guess there's always someone, sadly. Envy is not an attractive trait.

  4. It's shocking what people feel entitled to say on the internet! You've given good suggestions for alternative behavior here.

  5. Thanks Jenny. People can make unpleasant comments while knowing nothing about a person's background or the hardship that they have had to endure in their lives.
