Last night Tony and I watched the TV programme 'How to lose a stone in Three weeks'. I asked Tony what he thought his waist might measure. Thirty four inches came the reply. I shot upstairs for the tape measure and measured us both... Himself 41 inches and me 35. We are both absolutely horrified as it is way above what is considered safe and it has given Tony the urge to lose a bit from around the middle. At long last he is on board and that is my battle well on the way to being won. Tony is a terrible tempter when it comes to late night snacks and nibbles so he has vowed to cut them all out. That means that I too will be cutting out temptation and with a bit of luck we will have dropped a couple of inches at least in three weeks. I plan to trawl back through Joy's meal suggestions and plan my meals and shopping basket around some of her suggestions. We will see how we get on.
Good luck! Jon's always been a late night snacker although he's managed to retain his 32" waist.
ReplyDeleteThere was a while when I started to keep him company with a nightly bowl of Bombay mix, monkey nuts or pistachios and shortly before my 50th birthday I realised that my clothes were getting tighter or wouldn't zip up. I knocked the snacks on the head, swapped my morning massive bowl of breakfast cereal for fresh fruit & yogurt and replaced a lunchtime sandwich for noodles. By the time I reached my 50th birthday my waist was back to the 24" its been most of my adult life and all my clothes fit again. x
24''...Flipping heck, I haven't been that slim in a very long time. 26 was my waist measurement for most of my adult life. I am aiming to be around 28''.
DeleteI too was horrified at my waist measurement a few weeks ago - well, I didn't have a waist, just a big round belly. I've lost a couple of inches off it, but still a long way to go. It's great that Tony's on board, makes it so much easier when partners are. Good luck Cherie, Joy is a great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sooze. I am hoping to shed several inches now that Tony and I are doing it together
DeleteYou'll be having us all measuring waists now. Mine is 29, is that alright. Mind you I have a bit of a belly below that :o(
ReplyDelete29 is fine. Anything below 31 is safe for a woman. That's why I was so shocked when I measured myself
DeleteThe last time I measured my waist it was 24 and so was I. I think that it is around 29/30 now. It has always been a size smaller than my hips, I have a template for waistbans when I dressmake. I think it is time to get the tape measure out.
ReplyDeleteNo I am not going to succumb to measuring I already know that I am overweight and have already started to do something about it. Maybe in a week or two....
ReplyDeleteWhoops my is 31" & that is definitely a bit surprise..I think I need to do more exercise as I'm a very small eater. Trouble is I'm shrinking & basically losing my waist. So much for old age.
ReplyDeleteLate night snacking is my downfall too. I'm off to hunt out my tape measure now. X
