It's been a scorcher

No wonder we Brits are obsessed with the weather. It goes from winter to summer and back again all in the space of a couple of days. I've had a lovely time pottering about in the garden today. It was too hot for me to sit still for very long but I have gotten all manner of little gardening jobs sorted.  I planted out some more summer bedding and put up the wigwam for my runner beans. The seeds arrived today so of course I immediately planted them out into the flower border. I love the height that runner beans achieve and the flowers are pretty too.  The aquaponics experiment has begun and I will let you know whether it's a success or not.

I cut the top off to give me a wider mouth for planting the tomato

cut holes in the bottom and around the sides

added a bit of gravel and popped the tomato plant in

covered the roots with a bit more gravel

Threaded it onto the cane and popped it into the pond so that the roots are kept moist at all times

I put large stones on the cane to hold it in place
