Lotion bars update

Stephenie, they are absolutely amazing. I have just made some and my skin feels like satin. Because I didn't know how they would turnout I made a small batch and used the little chocolate moulds that I have. I simply used 15g  each of Shea butter,  coconut oil and beeswax.  Melted them in a  jug in a pan of water and spooned the mixture into the little moulds. I bought the shea butter from ebay and it was very reasonable.  I am planning on rubbing a lotion bar all over my body after a bath and giving it time to sink into my skin before I get the jim jams on. I bet they will be fabulous on cracked heals and elbows.  Well worth making. The fridge is probably the best place to store them as I think they would melt quite quickly if you store them somewhere warm. I plan to find a glass jar to pop mine into. At the moment the are wrapped in grease proof  paper and sealed in a plastic container.

I bought my shea butter from this company.. It cost me £1.49 for 50grams.  Hardly going to break the bank

  1. Oh, they're lovely! I've ordered some shea butter (already have beeswax and coconut oil) and am quite excited about having a go after you've set the example. I was wondering whether the equal amounts were by volume or weight - and now I know it is weight.
How does it smell. Is it very coconutty or could I add some lavendar oil?
Those buttons are so, so cute!

    1. I think I would say more honey scented but not quite honey. I don't think I can describe it really but they smell edible and yummy. I used it all over my body last night and my skin feels lovely and soft this morning. I have no idea which scented oil would work well with it but I love the scent of roses and might try that some time if the rose oil isn't too expensive

    2. I think I might do what you did and give it a go using just a little bit of each element. A good way to find out, I reckon.

  2. This look so sweet! I am definitely going to make some but will need to order shea butter first. I'll have to find a local supplier for that here in Australia. Isn't it amazing just what you can make at home! Meg:)
