I wonder why it is usually perceived as being a 'man thing'? My dad died suddenly when I was twelve leaving my mum to raise 5 children on her own. My youngest brother was only four at the time. I don't recall mum ever doing any DIY when dad was alive but she very quickly learned. She used to say that women can do pretty much everything a man can do... Obviously we don't have the physical strength that men have but we are all perfectly able to learn how to wield power tools. The other day an advert came on TV for a small handheld electric saw. I was pleased to see them depicting women using it too. I WANT ONE.... :-) I could have such fun with such a portable piece of kit.
I am waiting for my camera battery to charge and then I will take a photo of the towel rail... I am really pleased with how it has turned out. It's not big enough for a bath sheet but an ordinary bath towel will fit it perfectly. I plan to use it for guest hand towels. It's nice for guests to have their own pretty towels to use. I often put a little box of chocolates and fresh towels on the end of the bed 'hotel style' when friends stay over. I like to make them feel welcome...
Maybe I should offer 'Crafting weekends'. I could charge silly money and include B and B... What d'ya think and how much should I charge :-)
Women did most things during the war and then the men came back and took it all away. I think men like to think that they are the strong ones but I think women can do most things men can.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe not all women. lol
Can't wait to see the towel rail.

I stay away from power tools because my husband would be hovering over me giving advice :) Also, I am a bit of a klutz. But as another blogger I know says, "You don't need a beard to (insert "man" job here)" :)
ReplyDeleteA craft weekend sounds like such a good idea. I have seen painting weekends and cookery breaks and they always seem popular.
