Harvest time

Yesterday, my friend and I went for our usual walk through our local neighbourhood. We were delighted to see that it is harvest time and we stood for a while watching the farmers at work. The corn fields have been a real treat to walk through and it will be interesting to see them when we walk again on Friday. The straw will all have been gathered in by then so the fields are going to look pretty bare. The walk usually takes us about two hours and has become a real favourite route.  We spoke to an older lady of 83 years who walks this route several times each week and she said that it is spectacular when it snows... I am looking forward to taking some photos when the seasons change.

After the harvest

I wonder what they will do with all the straw

  1. Are you sure it is corn and not wheat? Doesn't look like corn stalks, not the one's we get here in the US anyway. A nice walking area for you.

  2. Belated happy birthday for yesterday. I have been away for a few days and just catching up. Lovely flowers.

  3. Looks and sounds like a beautiful walk. Two hours...that's a great walk.

  4. You take great pictures. I got stuck behind a lorry full of hay bales on a driving lesson last night. Still no casualties. I am looking forward to seeing the pics in winter WS X
