Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... Sweetcorn and curly kale
I think I may have mentioned in a previous post that I am now growing fruit and veg in my flower borders. It is working amazingly well and so far I haven't needed to net the strawberries. As they are competing with everything else in the border the crop isn't as large. but the fruit is sweet and juicy. In the flower border at the front of my house I planted sweetcorn and curly kale. It is doing amazingly well and the kale will look spectacular right through the winter when I have very little of interest out there. I am currently drying seeds from the purple curly kale. I will plant them next year. I might even alternate green and purple and make an edible hedge. Some time today I will take a photo and show you how well it is coming along. I have another ten mile walk planned today. I shall be taking plenty of water with me.

I tried growing veg in my flower border the first year here, it was only successful insofar as the slugs left my flowers alone. The veg was decimated even with nightly slug picking. Enjoy your walk.
