I'm not sure what I want to do with the garden yet but I'm ready for a bit of a change around. The rain has softened the soil enough for me to relocate a large berberis shrub. It wasn't easy at it is a thorny little blighter but I like its new position and the space left behind will be put to very good use. The strawberries in the border weren't such a good idea as they
are were running riot... I have hoiked a load of them out and binned most of them. Although the lupins were spectacular I thought some of the colours were a bit drab. I am seriously thinking about pulling some of them out and using the space for something else.. not sure what though just yet. My beautiful Hollyhock snapped in half during that horrible storm the other day. I was gutted as there were still loads of flowers on it waiting to open. I cut them off this morning but left a few of the seed heads on the stalk in the hope that they will ripen and I can plant seeds. Speaking of seeds.. the pomegranates have been a storming success. They are germinating like crazy and will need potting on in a week or two. Trifid mango is coming along in leaps and bounds and the avocado are really strong and healthy. Something is eating the leaves on the avocado though so I will need to keep and eye on them. I had to pick a caterpillar off the mango this morning but haven't a clue how it got there.
The gladioli that I planted in front of the hedge are starting to open. They add a lovely splash of colour to that border

Amazing - the scary Mango looks very interesting. Superb avocados :-D Mine is about 6" tall now so I guess he should be now planted in dirt ?? xx
ReplyDeleteWhen it gets a little taller nip off the top couple of leaves. The plant will bush out nicely
DeleteEeek - that sounds a bit scary doesn't it ?? LoL The last one I did that too just died.... probably to spite me !!
DeleteShould my latest one be in dirt in a pot yet ?? xx
I would pot it on with some good compost and give it a few weeks to get established. Then chop its head of and wait to see it transform into a strong healthy plant... I was scared too but mine looks amazing now.
DeleteGreat photos.x
