Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... Fruit cocktail tree
Does anyone have one? .. Google it if you haven't heard of it. It sounds fascinating but a little odd. I am planning on starting a few sometime soon. I plan to do a citrus one, a stone fruit one, an apple one and pear one. I have no idea if it will work but it will be a fun experiment. I first need to find some dwarf rootstocks in the uk… and then the possibilities are endless.. or not, as the case may very well be

Are you going to graft them yourself? Something that i have not done for over 40 years. You will be very lucky indeed to get apples and pears on the same root stock, I have only seen it done once.
ReplyDeleteSt Julien A is what I used, if you find a Nursery that grafts their own trees they may supply you with the stock that you want. Good Luck.
I am going to try. I have found a company that sells dwarf rootstocks but only from January through to April. I will order some when they have them in stock
DeleteSounds interesting, I have kept some lemon pips back today to see if I can grow a tree. xx
ReplyDeleteLet them dry for a while and then peel off the little hard shell. They shoot much quicker that way.
DeleteOk Cherie,thanks for the tip.x
DeleteHave you missed your true calling, Cherie? You'd make an excellent horticulturist, I think!
ReplyDeleteMany years ago I taught gardening. The group had drug and alcohol problems. They were usually drunk or spaced out during the sessions... I learned a lot about people back in those days
DeleteWe had an amazing apple tree that was a mixture of both cooking and eating apples at our last house and although a dwarf variety we didn't want to uproot it to move.
