A bit of a wasted day really and a few pebbles

Tony and I dropped the car off at 08.15 and were told to ring about noon.  We set off for a walk into Darlington and had a bacon sarnie and a smashing cup of tea. Then we wandered aimlessly about for an hour... we loathe wandering around shops.  I had a sudden brainwave. We could sit in the library and read the newspapers.. Of we trotted to the library only to discover that they don't have any newspapers. I picked a gardening book off the shelf and read for a while... Tony stared into space.  Just before noon Tony rang the garage …. It will be at least another hour.... Off we wandered around a couple of charity shops... I bought a cheap novel.  We found a seat in the shade and I read for a little while before deciding that we could walk over to our absolute favourite chippy and have fish and chips. We settled down in a lovely green space to eat them and waited for the phone call...  It came... not ready until around 2pm...   We sat for a while and then explored a little... Then came a call to say that we could have the use of a courtesy car until tomorrow as the wrong part had arrived and the car wouldn't be ready today...…. so all in all a bit of a wasted day.

The pebbles are painted with ordinary matt household emulsion.. I just happened to have yellow.  Then I give them a base coat of cheap acrylic paint.... I bought mine from Wilkinson's but any cheap acrylic paint would do...  I have had a little play with my dotting tools but need a lot of practice.. The lady on You Tube made it look dead easy... It isn't... :-)

  2. Thank you so much for the tutorial, Cherie. It's good to know a process that works. Like you say, YouTube videos can be misleading sometimes! Love the spotted pebbles.

My car has to go to the garage this week and I'm not looking forward to it. You had a long old day.

  3. I took my car in for a service on Monday afternoon, and went to the library, one I haven't been to before. No newspapers but I found some books to read, and borrow. They rang me as I was walking back to say the car was ready. Good timing.

  4. There is nothing more annoying than waiting for any thing, phone call, visitor, workmen it doesn't matter. It just means that you can't get on with what you want. Been there.
    Maybe tomorrow will be better.
