Weeds or wonderful?

Has anyone noticed how many dandelions there are this year?  Our grass verges are smothered with them... I adore them but hubby can't stand them. I reckon they look like mini chrysanthemums... and then the seed heads look like tiny alliums....... Tony just sees a patch of weeds.
Speaking of Tony.  We went out for a walk around the neighbourhood tonight and the air was absolutely perfumed with Lilac. I only wish the roots weren't so invasive as I would love to put one in my garden. At least I get to enjoy the fragrance without the roots spoiling the garden.

  1. Love them or hate them they are here to stay lol! I leave the flowers because the bees enjoy them, then pick off the dead heads before they seed.

  2. I just read that finches eat the dandelion seeds so now I don't want to get rid of ours for yet another reason! They really are cheery little blooms.

  3. I love the scent of fresh lilacs in the air, too. I don't have any, but many of my neighbors do. I love the fragrance of jasmine, too. It's divine...
