I spent a couple of hours filling them then decided I'd move the middle one. I was going to leave it till tomorrow but Tony helped me to move it. This is how it looked before we moved it. And can anyone identify this bulb. It smells strongly of garlic but clearly isn't garlic

Your garden looks absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteI did a Google search and it says it is Garlic Chives
"Based on the image, the plants appear to be garlic chives (Allium tuberosum).Edibility: All parts of this plant—including the leaves, bulbs, and flowers—are edible and have a mild garlic flavor.
Flowers: The plant produces star-shaped white flowers in clusters, which are edible and often used in salads or as a garnish.
Characteristics: Unlike common chives, garlic chives have flat, linear leaves rather than hollow, tubular ones.
Growing Habits: They are hardy perennials that spread easily and can be grown in containers or in the garden."
Thanks Joy. I've put six of them in the GreenStalk and hope to keep them contained. All those tiny bulbs made me wonder if they'd try and takeover the garden.
DeleteIf they have triangular stems they are Allium Triquetrum. They can be invasive, spreading by bulb and seed, and hard to get rid of. What a productive garden you have thanks to your hard work. I love reading about it. Charmaine
ReplyDeleteThey don't seem to have triangle stems but I think they could be very invasive if the tiny bulbs are an indication.
