I've bitten the bullet and decided to retire from invigilating. Heck, now that my state pension is going into the bank each month I really don't need the money. We've been managing very comfortably without it. It's become a real chore lately fighting through rush hour traffic and I'm sure the other invigilators will be glad to pick up where I left off. Next week will be my last exam though I have offered to go in on odd occasions if they're really stuck for an invigilator. It feels a little bit sad but mostly relief so definitely the right choice. Tony has been working two days each week at a friend's garage and also volunteering with the National Trust so we aren't going to be under each other's feet every day. I've started going out for days using my bus pass and I'm hoping to go further and further exploring as I become more familiar with bus time tables.
I loathe shopping so won't be wandering around the shopping centres but I will be working in my garden at every opportunity. There's always something to do out there. I've literally just this minute harvested this beautiful bounty and tomorrow I'll prep some of it for the freezer
congratulations on your retirement. Been catching up on your blog, you've been busy.......
ReplyDeleteI have been busy but I think we're going to just enjoy life for a while. We want to make some further changes but that won't be until next year.
DeleteBeautiful harvest. Congratulations! I think you will love retirement. I know I do…
ReplyDeleteI've been semi retired for several years now but invigilate quite often. Now I'll concentrate on being fully retired.
DeleteCongratulations! I'm sure, at first, you might miss it, but it sounds as though your life is full and there are lots of adventures ahead to look forward to! I always think you're so lucky to have those bus passes, there are so many places to explore!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I really don't think that I will miss it. I have so many other things I can fill my time with.
DeleteGood for you. I had a pause on retirement but honestly, will be happy to go back to it. I may or may not take substitute days. I'll get to my real lists. Time in your garden sounds fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm drawing up plans for all the places I would like to visit in the coming months
DeleteThe fact that it was a fairly straightforward decision means that it must have been the right one. Here's to doing more of whatever you choose! X
ReplyDeleteI very nearly did it last year but I think now is the right time
