Tony and I are going to our friends for tea tonight. I'm taking dessert so I've made toffee apple tart. This morning I peeled and diced some of our apples. I fried them in butter and scattered on some cinnamon and mixed spice. Then I added a couple of heaped spoons of brown sugar and cooked it gently until the apples were tender and the toffee sauce coated them nicely. I left them to cool. This is half a sheet of ready made puff pastry. Cooked in the oven till crisp and golden. I've spread a nice thick layer of Carnation caramel over the pastry and topped it with the toffee apples. We'll serve it with vanilla ice cream and say knickers to the carbs and sugar. A treat occasionally won't hurt.
