I'm entertaining today

This afternoon I have some friends coming over so I was up with the larks baking. Yesterday I made a gorgeous rhubarb and raspberry dessert. It only needs finishing off with some whipped cream and a few raspberries to garnish.  I picked and boiled some beautiful baby beets yesterday in both red and golden varieties. I've cooked little sausages and hard boiled some eggs. There's a lovely selection of cheeses and I have some beautiful ripe figs. The flipping yummy chocolate cake that I baked at 6am this morning is all decorated with chocolate ganache.  I've made roast beef sarnies and I'll make some ham ones later on.  I've run out of fridge space so anything that needs keeping cool will have to be made later today.  Prosecco is chilling and there's plenty of soft drinks.  I've got loads of grapes ripening so I am making  little goody bags filled with garden produce for them to take home.

Best of all I get to use my beautiful Old Country Roses china knowing that they love pretty china as much as I do.  Spending time with like minded people is so nice isn't it.

Tony will be pleased when he gets home from work as he gets to eat loads of left over goodies even though I packed up a really nice lunch box for him with a fresh baked baguette filled with beef, beetroot and tomatoes. I've packed some little sausages and some goodies. I've told him that he'll have to take all the leftover food to work tomorrow and share it with the lads. Stops me overdoing the carbs if it's not there to tempt me.

  1. sounds yummy.........here in Canada rhubarb and strawberries is a normal combination of fruits. I have never had rhubarb and raspberries, I will have to try it.
