Did any of you watch Helen Skelton and Dan Walker on channel 5 last night. Well that's my home territory. Great Ayton is ten minutes away and where we enjoy one of our regular ceilidhs. We've driven those roads and walked those footpaths many many times. It still takes my breath away every time we drive along those country lanes it's so beautiful. Roseberry topping is the landmark that we watch out for when we return home from holiday.
The chap that we bought the new fridge freezer from is the man from whom the bikes were hired. His wife had to lend Helen Skelton a pair of trainers as she only had sandals with her when they turned up for the shoot. While we were completing the order for the fridge his assistant was telling us all about it.
It's season 2 episode 1 if you are interested.
Before we went to order the freezer we popped into a couple of garden centres and bought some beautiful cyclamen. Tony has planted them in the wall planters. They have added a lovely splash of colour to the front of the house.

I saw it, my territory too. Climbed up Roseberry Topping for a geology field trip many years ago when I was at school, the view is terrific. They didn't mention Suggitt's!
ReplyDeleteOr Fletchers farm.. Gorgeous scones there.
DeleteIf we ever get that on TV here in the USA, I will try to remember your post here! Oh, how I would love to see Yorkshire!
ReplyDeleteYorkshire is absolutely beautiful. It's a privilege to live here.
DeleteHelen Skelton's dad and family are from the same village as hubby was born/brought up in. She went to school with our nephew, would have been in the same year as our kids as well, if we had stopped in the UK. I don't know the area you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteNorth Yorkshire is absolutely stunning. Especially in the summer.
DeleteI climbed Roseberry Topping on my birthday, one year. It's a great walk. X
ReplyDeleteWe scattered the ashes of my friend's husband amongst the bluebells there. It was very moving and beautiful
